Free Chicago Walking Tours offers a 3-Hour Chicago Photography Tour on Tuesdays beginning at 10:00 AM. Our affordable tour is less expensive than other tours and limits the group size to ensure that you have an intimate experience with our photography guide.
Our experienced photography guides will help you capture what makes Chicago so special using your own equipment. This is our “How to Photograph Chicago” tour that will help local beginners to experienced tourists make the most of their time in Chicago because our guide knows the best spots. Let our tour guides give you the tips on photographing the essence of Chicago.

Guests on our Chicago Photography Tour will get it all! From gorgeous views of the Chicago River, a look up the Magnificent Mile with the Wrigley Building & Tribune Tower flanking each side to “secret” spots in Millennium Park and some of the best architecture in the world located in The Loop.
The 3-hour Chicago Photography Tour will not only give you an incredible assortment of Instagramable pictures, the tour guide will help educate you on the history of our beautiful city. In between shots you will hear about the events and people that influenced Chicago from the 1800s until today.
Whether your an experienced photographer or this is your first time using a DSLR, our guides with be able to coach and educate you so that you’re able to take home incredible memories of Chicago.
The 3-Hour Chicago Photography Tours starts at 10:00 AM and ends at 1:00 PM. We choose this time because this provides the best sunlight for photos in the area of Chicago we will be touring.
There will not be a stop for lunch.
Our guides will have light snacks for everyone (such as granola bars) to help combat your hunger and allow you to stay focused. There will be an opportunity to purchase waters and beverages but we encourage you to bring your own!
About our Guide: Alex has been shooting in the Chicago area for over a decade and on a freelance basis for 5 years. Sessions in places like the Nevada desert, the farmland of southeastern Iowa and jungles of the Carribbean as well as cities like New Orleans, San Juan and Las Vegas have given Alex an eye for what sets Chicago apart visually.
Our Guide’s Equipment: Nikon D5100 DSLR on a 35mm f/1.8 lens or an 18-250mm lens. He’s very comfortable with landscape and architecture photography. Alex is looking forward to shooting more street photography.
Alex’s Pro Photography Tip: A great spot to get pictures is in the second level of the Ghiradelli chocolate store on Michigan avenue. There’s great sight lines down Michigan avenue, and they give you free chocolate samples when you go in.
